The SR series is an entry-level offering in Keeway’s portfolio. Further, you have two options from the SR series: the 125cc and the 250cc. Just so you know, the SR range offers only scrambler bikes. There are, however, other Keeway bikes that cater to different types of buyers. Moreover, the Keeway SR250 can be an alternative to the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and the TVS Ronin. These three bikes are nearly identical in terms of pricing, proportions and features. So, if you are looking for a bike from the 250cc segment, and that too a not-so-common brand, you should give a thought to the Keeway SR250. But for that, you should, of course, know more about the vehicle, as it will be a one-time purchase. Just so you know, the bookings of the Keeway SR250 have already begun, but its deliveries will commence from April 2023 onwards.

Specifications
As far as the engine specifications go, the SR250 is built on a rugged frame that supports a 223cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which is tuned to churn out 15.78 bhp at 7500 rpm and 16 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. Like other BS6 bikes, this two-wheeler is also equipped with fuel injection technology. There are several pros to having that state-of-the-art technology. Interestingly, the central government of India ordered the two-wheeler manufacturers to utilize the aforementioned technology while producing BS6 engines. Having said that, these new-age two-wheelers have a cleaner fuel supply system than the conventional fuel supply system.
And, as mentioned earlier, there are several advantages and those include an increase in mileage, no lag on cold-start, linear power delivery, less jerk on the hills, and fewer emissions, to name a few. Speaking of fuel efficiency, the Keeway SR250’s mileage is rated at 40 km/l. It is an ARAI-certified mileage. A similar ARAI-certified mileage figure is common among Royal Enfield bikes. Please note that this mileage figure can differ with local traffic conditions and individuals’ riding styles. However, you can expect the real mileage to range between 30-35 km/l. You can check out the location-based SR250 price on the autoX website. In addition, this bike stores its fuel in a 14.2-litre tank.
Transmission
Furthermore, this bike is coupled with a standard five-speed manual transmission. Speaking of which, the clutchplate won’t let you lament the maintenance costs, as dry multiplate clutch used to have fast wear and tear, due to which many owners were fed up with owning a bike. But, now, the times have changed, and many new-age bikes have sophisticated clutchplates. However, the wet multiplate clutch can work flawlessly, as it can provide smooth gear shifts at high/low revs and on the hills, as well. Moreover, you can also check out TVS bikes, especially the TVS Ronin which is a direct rival to the Keeway SR250.
Suspension and brake
Apart from the engine output, let’s talk about the suspension and brake setups on this scrambler. The Keeway SR250 packs a telescopic suspension setup at both front and rear. Considering the price, the bike manufacturer should have offered a better suspension by either providing a Nitrox shock absorber or something superior. However, the telescopic suspension shouldn’t let you complain about the ride quality, as they have proven to offer a comfortable ride quality over the years. You can easily take this bike off-road, and that’s what a scrambler is supposed to do. That said, it can absorb the bumps from potholes easily, and that too without letting the pillion jostle. Speaking of rideability, the Keeway SR250’s ground clearance stands at 160mm, which is suitable for any terrain. And, for your knowledge, the Triumph Bajaj Scrambler will also join this segment in the coming months. If you did not know this, Triumph and Bajaj are in a joint venture (JV) and they will be producing more under their JV moniker. You can stay tuned to autoX so that you get alerts for the latest Bajaj bikes.
Brake
Furthermore, the suspension setup on this bike works in tandem with dual disc brakes. The front disc brake measures 300mm, while the rear disc brake measures 210mm. And these disc brakes can be noticed behind the 17-inch rims. And, speaking of rims, the front tyre profile of this bike is 110/70 R17, while the rear tyre profile is rated at 130/70 R17. Further, the rear tyre should always be wider than the front tyre, as it can provide extra stability at high speeds, especially around the corners. Moreover, as far as safety goes, the Keeway SR250 offers a dual-channel ABS. In terms of safety, this bike is well-equipped. It is worth mentioning that when the dual-channel ABS works in combination with dual disc brakes, it reduces the chances of mishaps, as it can prevent the bike from making a stoppie or skidding at an emergency braking. You can, however, compare the specifications of this 250cc scrambler with a direct rival or any other bike as per your preference on the autoX domain. Now, let’s jump to features.
Features
Since this bike is offered in one variant only with an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.5 lakh. And, at this price point, a bike should offer a good number of features, and this bike has a respectable number of features. It misses out on LED DRLs, mobile app connectivity, GPS and navigation, a USB port, a front storage box, and an under-seat storage. However, it offers an auto headlights-on feature, a digital instrument cluster (speedometer plus digital tripmeter), a low fuel indicator, a digital fuel gauge, a standing alarm, and an electric start.
